Duendes del Sorrosal
via ferrata
The easiest via ferrata in the Spanish Pyrenees for children and families. Level K1, no experience needed, next to the Sorrosal waterfall in Broto. The perfect introduction to via ferrata in Huesca.
The perfect via ferrata
to start with
The Duendes del Sorrosal via ferrata is Broto's beginner route. It sits in the same stunning setting as the Sorrosal K3 via ferrata, right next to the Sorrosal waterfall, but with a course designed specifically for children from age 6–8, first-timers and people with some vertigo.
The sections are less exposed and aerial than the Sorrosal K3. The rungs and vertical passages are sized for children to reach comfortably. The surroundings, however, are just as spectacular: the Sorrosal gorge with its 50-million-year-old Pyrenean flysch walls.
Our shop at C. d'O Cuatrón 3, Broto handles guided bookings (from 45€/person, everything included) and gear rental for experienced climbers (15€/person). Open every day 8:00–20:00 (April–October).
What the Duendes
via ferrata includes
A complete via ferrata experience with all the real elements, designed so that beginners and young children can progress safely and confidently.
Rungs and beginner ladders
The route combines metal rungs with ladders and handrails. All elements are sized so that children from age 6 can reach them comfortably and progress with confidence.
Continuous safety cable
As on all via ferratas, a steel safety cable runs the full length. Your absorber is always clipped to it. Being permanently secured is what makes a via ferrata different from free climbing.
Sorrosal waterfall setting
The Duendes is in the same gorge as the K3, among the Pyrenean flysch walls. Views of the canyon and the waterfall accompany you throughout the route.
Combinable with the K3
Doing the Duendes in the morning and the Sorrosal K3 in the afternoon is the most popular combination for mixed groups. Young children do the Duendes while adults tackle the K3.
5 minutes from Broto
Access is the same as for the Sorrosal via ferrata: 5 minutes on foot from the village car park along a flat path. No extra driving needed.
